5/7/12
Read the assignment Read the poem Watched the Jeff Bezos video Picked 5 topics for the research project
Thoughts: One thought that I have is that this project will be exciting and interesting. Also, that a lot of hard work and determination will have to go into this project. Reflections:My reflections for today is that I need to work on time management to get this project finished and for this project to be the best that it can be. Concerns: One of my concerns is that I am confused on what the project is and how the ending project will look like. In addition to, I understand the steps along the way for this unit but I do not understand the ending product. Inspirations and contemplations: My inspiration for today is that I either want to do the Holocaust or the Salem Witch trials as my project.
5/8/12
•Picked research topic •Talked about Jeff Bezos Speech •Talked about passion
Thoughts: One thought that I have is that should try and figure out what I’m passionate about so I can email Ms.Dabrush my final decision. Also, that there are a lot of due dates for this project. Reflections:My reflection for today is that passion determines where people go in life. For example, if Jeff Bezos did not have the passion to make amazon, there would not have been amazon.com that so many people use. Concerns:One of my concerns is for the FQI sheet do I have to find different resources like the web, a book, a newspaper article or can I just use 5 different books as research. Inspiration and contemplations: My inspiration for today is that I want to do the Holocaust as my research topic. I want to do the Holocaust because ever since I was 8 I always wondered how Hitler could persecute Jewish people
5/10/12
•Worked on FQI sheet •Completed an FQI sheet
Thoughts: My thought for today is that this project is getting easier everyday. Also, I am finding that learning about the Holocaust and filling out the FQI sheets is actually really fun and interesting. Reflections: My reflection for today is that learning about the Holocaust is exciting and fun but is also really sad. Concerns:My concern is that I do not know what ideas I am going to use for the multi-genre portion of the project. Inspirations and Contemplations: My inspiration is that I am going to finish three of the FQI sheets this weekend so I am ahead of schedule
5/16/12
*Character evaluation *Character interview *Find two more sources
Thoughts: One of my thoughts is about the character assessment that I have tomorrow. I hope I do well on it because I really like the character that I created. Reflections: My reflection for today is that I am right on track for my FQI sheets, I have 3 of them done. Concerns:I am concerned about the Narrative that will be happening next week. Inspirations:My inspiration is that I have my character, his name is Klaus. He is growing up in a German household during the time of the Holocaust. He lives with his father who is a commander of the Nazi Party. Klaus does not agree with his father on persecution Jewish people.
5/18/12
•Work on FQI sheets •Review dialogue and setting
Thoughts:My thoughts are that I am in pretty good shape. I have only two more FQI sheets and then I am done. I am also really excited about the Narrative that I will have next week. Reflections:My reflection is that the Holocaust is a really, really hard subject to do. While I was working on my fourth FQI sheet I stared to cry for how sad the ending was. Concerns: I am worried that I will not have enough time to finish the Narrative that I have next week. Inspiration and contemplations: My inspiration for this week is that I will want to finish my fourth FQI sheet by tonight.
5/22/12
Worked on Narrative Writing
I worked on my Narrative writing and worked really hard on it. I created a character and the introduction of the story. I am excited to finish my story. My introduction came out really good. The introduction has some figurative language and is very descriptive. So, I hope it comes out really nice. One concern that I have is that I will not be able to finish the Narrative by Friday.
5/28/12
•Prepared for Poem Analysis
Thoughts:My thoughts for today were about the poem analysis that I am having tomorrow. I am a little confused about what it is about. However I reviewed the poem and read it over to make sure I understand it.
Reflections:Last Friday I handed in my Narrative and I think I did well on it but I am not sure. Also, I am preparing for starting my other genres.
Concerns:I am concerned about not finishing my multi-genre research project in time. Also, I am worried that I will not be able to finish the poem analysis in time. Inspiration and contemplations: My inspiration is that hopefully I will do well on the poem anylisis that I have tomorrow.
5/30/12
•Worked on starting genres for the research project •Worked on repented
Thoughts:My thoughts for today are that I want to get some of my genres done this week. In addition to, I want to get my repented and I think I have it.Reflections: My reflections for today is that I hope my repented is a good choice or not. In addition to, I want to know if I have a good repented.Concerns: My concern is that I won't have my Research Project done in time.Inspirations and Contemplations: My inspirations is that I want my repented to be a blue butterfly with barbed wire around it. Where there is a locket around it. So, as the project goes on the locket will get free and it will be like freedom.
6/1/12
•Prepare for creating genres•Finish Repetend
The only thing that I did today was finish my repetend. My repetend is a butterfly that is trapped with a lock. Then as the genres move on the lock will un-ravel. Also, the genres that I will use is a poem, then a news report, a propaganda poster and a mystery.
6/5/12
•Worked on last genre
•Worked on dear reader
•Worked on adding color
Today I worked on my genres and added color to my wiki. I made my wiki look very nice. I also finished my last genre. My last genre is about the end of the Holocaust where everyone gets free. Also I did my dear reader. I just need to think of my title and do my genre

For this last reflection, you should choosefourof the nine questions listed here: Why did you choose your topic? I chose my topic because when I went to France in 1st grade, I went to a village where the Holocaust came through. At the time I did not know much about the topic, however in 7th grade when we learned about this topic as a class. I was so interested because I wanted to know how the Nazis and Hitler could believe what they believed. Are you still happy with your choice? I am definitely positively happy with my choice. What facts about your topic interested you most? The facts that interested me the most was about the concentration camps and death camps. I just wanted to understand how the Nazis felt when they set up those camps. Did this kind of project help you get a better understanding of your topic than you might have with a more traditional kind of research paper? If so, why and in what ways did it help?Yes this project did help me get a better understanding. It helped me because when I did the research I was interested in the research. Also this project gave you a chance to be creative and try new things. How much information did you collect? How easy or hard was it to find information? I collected a lot of information. I probably had more then 10 sources that I could use. It was pretty easy to find information because the Holocaust is a huge event in the world's history. What strengths did you use as a writer in this project? What new strengths did you discover? The strengths that I used as a writer in this project was the way that I found research for the FQI sheets. A new strength that I discovered is my ability to make up stories and genres.
How did you decide on the organization of the pieces into a cohesive whole? Consider not only organization but use of transitional devices and packaging.
I decided the organization of the piece by doing it in somewhat chronological order. I used transition by doing the repentend. The repentend and creating the repetend flow very well.
